Mariam, violently deported from Spain back to the family home in Western Sahara she left a decade earlier, rails against the confines of a culture and home she had once escaped. Mariam’s relentless determination to steer her own destiny in the world of complex traditions she returns to puts her at risk of losing everything, including the people who care for her most.
ಮರಿಯಮ್ ಹತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ ತನ್ನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಸ್ಪೇನ್ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಸಹಾರಾದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅವಳ ಮನೆಗೆ ವಾಪಸ್ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ತಾನು ಯಾವ ಕಟ್ಟುಪಾಡುಗಳಿಂದ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಳೋ, ಈಗ ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದೇ ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಅವಳು ಬಂಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮರಿಯಮ್ನ ಹಠ ಮತ್ತು ಛಲ, ಅವಳನ್ನು ಅಪಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ದೂಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಹಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವಳು ತನ್ನವರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿ ಇರುವ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಎದುರಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

Eimi Imanishi is an award-winning Japanese American director and screenwriter. Her short film BATTALION TO MY BEAT (2016) won the Canal Plus Award for Best International Short at Clermont Ferrand in 2017 and screened at over fifty festivals, including Toronto. Her short ONE UP (2017) won Best Narrative Short at Indie Memphis and was a Vimeo Staff Pick. She is a Sundance, Film Independent, and Time Warner Fellow. Her feature debut, NOMAD SHADOW (2025), premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Centrepiece section.
