Abdolreza Kahani (b. 1973) is an award-winning Iranian filmmaker with a Master’s degree in theatre from the University of Tehran. He began making experimental shorts and documentaries at thirteen. His debut feature, DANCE WITH THE MOON (2004), launched a career that included eight feature films in Iran. Several later works were banned due to censorship, leading him to relocate to France in 2015. Despite restrictions, his films earned international acclaim, winning awards at festivals such as Karlovy Vary and Thessaloniki. He has directed films in countries including France, Thailand, and Canada, identifying himself as a nomadic filmmaker without fixed borders.
