Praveen Morchhale (b. 1968), a self-taught filmmaker from Madhya Pradesh and a key figure in the "Indian New Wave," transitioned from a corporate career to cinema. Influenced by Iranian minimalism, he gained national acclaim with his second feature, WALKING WITH THE WIND (2017), which won three National Film Awards. His films, including his debut BAREFOOT TO GOA (2015) and his latest, WHITE SNOW (2025), are known for using non-professional actors, natural sound, and an empathetic focus on marginalized lives.
