Cyril Aris (b. 1987) is a Lebanese director and screenwriter, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He holds an MFA from Columbia University in New York and also works as an editor. His work spans both fiction and documentary cinema. His documentaries include DANCING ON THE EDGE OF A VOLCANO (2023) and THE SWING (2018), both premiering at Karlovy Vary, while his short THE PRESIDENT’S VISIT (2017) premiered at TIFF and won Oscar-qualifying awards. A SAD AND BEAUTIFUL WORLD is his directorial debut feature fiction film.
