IRA SACHS

USA | GERMANY / ENGLISH / 2025 / 76 mins

On December 19, 1974, writer Linda Rosenkrantz sits with her friend, photographer Peter Hujar, in a quiet New York apartment and asks him to recount the previous day in precise detail. What unfolds is a candid, fragmented portrait of an artist - witty, erotically frank, and deeply vulnerable. Around their stillness echoes 1970s New York: a portrait session with Allen Ginsberg, a call with Susan Sontag, fleeting encounters and gestures. Drawn from transcripts rediscovered in 2019, Ira Sachs shapes a tender portrait of a city, an era and the act of being truly seen.
